Abstract

Using reflectance and excitation spectroscopy, we have calculated host‐to‐activator energy transfer efficiencies in (Y,Gd)BO₃: Eu under vacuum ultraviolet excitation. As expected, we find an increase in the host‐to‐Eu transfer efficiency of these materials when Gd is doped into the YBO₃ host. This effect is discussed in terms of current electron trapping and transport models.
