Abstract

This paper presents an account of the American-Argentine agricultural machinery trade from 1880-1900. The paper is intended to offer some insights into American commercial expansion in general during that period. The paper provides an account of the nature of the agricultural machinery trade, including consideration of marketing factors and European competition. The paper further illustrates the role of the American State Department in commercial expansion during the years 1880-1900.
