Abstract

In three experiments using 180 rats, extracts of brain protein were used for interanimal transfer of an avoidance response from donors to recipients. In the first experiment it was found that avoidance learning in donors produced a response transfer, but autonomic arousal did not. The second experiment confirmed these results, and demonstrated a response transfer after a single donor training trial. The third experiment confirmed the results of the first two, and the recipient response strength showed evidence of extinction and spontaneous recovery.
