Abstract

This presentation analyzes the style and factors included of effective followership within a team. It will cover all of the main points associated, including several examples of current and well known people who exemplify this character trait within their personal teams. The cause and effect of good and bad followership will be integrated into the examples. The cons of the followership style, including the negative effects of dependence, passiveness, and communication errors as a follower will be examined. The pros of effective followers, to include participation, sharing, humility, and judgement will be mentioned. This presentation will include aspects of gender differences within the effective followership style. The last point that will be covered is relationship initiative; the factor of a reciprocal relationship which includes building trust, communicating courageously, identifying with the leader, and adopting the leader’s vision as an effective follower.
