The images featured here belonged to a scrapbook assembled by Ernest (Ernie) Nicholas Arnone, a long-time resident of Renton, Washington, who participated in the construction of Grand Coulee Dam during the 1930s-1940s. Arnone was the son of Michael Arnone (born in Rovito, Italy) and Raffale Arnieri. He graduated from Renton High School in 1931. Likely following his work on Grand Coulee Dam, he took up a position as postal clerk at the Renton Post Office. There he met and married Ruby Marguerite Willis (b. November 6, 1917). During the 1940s, Arnone became a serious golf competitor, among other things earning the title of Pierce County Champion of Champions.
Arnone's scrapbook--featured here--deals primarily with the construction of Grand Coulee Dam. However, it also includes images from San Francisco and the Suez Canal.
