Abstract
This article assesses the United Nations in the Cold War and post-9/11 Hollywood environment, asking how and why earlier films cast the UN within Cold War containment philosophy, and how, in the twenty-first century, the UN has re-emerged in futuristic, fantasy worlds still eyeing the normative realism of the present.
