Abstract
This article discusses nuclear power and power plants in the U.S. West, commenting on nuclear technologies, antinuclear activism, and the decentralization of nuclear regulation. The author particularly focuses on protests against plans to build plants in California at Bodega Head and Bakersfield and notes opposition to a proposed waste disposal site at Yucca Mountain in Nevada.
