Abstract
Using reflectance and excitation spectroscopy, we have calculated host‐to‐activator energy transfer efficiencies in (Y,Gd)BO3: Eu under vacuum ultraviolet excitation. As expected, we find an increase in the host‐to‐Eu transfer efficiency of these materials when Gd is doped into the YBO3 host. This effect is discussed in terms of current electron trapping and transport models.
