Abstract
A survey was taken of music programs in 18 Washington school districts and compared to the music program in Yakima. Information was gathered from music supervisors in areas including administration, curriculum, scheduling, use of student learning objectives, and emerging concerns as identified by the supervisor. Concerns common to the supervisors were: 1) declining enrollment in choral programs and 2) increased scheduling conflicts attributed to additional graduation requirements. A study of current literature showed that these concerns are consistent with programs in other areas of the country and potential solutions were reported.
