Taken from the intersection of Chestnut and Third Streets looking west toward the rebuilt business district of Ellensburgh, Washington. E. B. Craig's large three story house at the far left was to have been the governor's mansion if Ellensburgh became the state capitol. The Cadwell Building and Presbyterian Church are in the distance.F. Jay Haynes, the official photographer for the Northern Pacific Railroad, photographed early Ellensburgh, the small town on the newly constructed railroad.
