Abstract

This paper examines factors which influenced the United States decision to intervene int he Korean crisis of June 1950. It stresses the relationship between events in Korea and prevailing Soviet-American tensions. Truman administration foreign policy, Congressional attitudes, and public opinion are also analyzed to determine both their relative effect on the Korean decision and their reaction to the decision.
