Abstract

This paper examines the similarities among three established theories of learning with special attention given to the role of symbolic functions (especially language) in primary learning processes. The major premise suggests that educators need to know how children form concepts and how they give expression to those concepts. It also discusses general classroom implications.

Appendices are attached presenting specific classroom activities and an evaluative discussion of collaborative learning, dramatization, and affective technics.
