2018 Northwest Undergraduate Conference in the Humanities
Introduction
The following award-winning papers were selected from a total of fifty-six submissions to the third annual Northwest Undergraduate Conference in the Humanities (NUCH) at North Idaho College, held November 3, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The goal of NUCH is to provide undergraduate college students from around the northwest with the opportunity to present their work in a public and professional academic setting, giving students exposure to the rigors of an academic conference. Further, NUCH strives to help forge relationships between disciplines in the Humanities, just as it also builds connections between various schools in the region. All paper submissions were first reviewed by a panel of faculty and student judges for admission to the conference. Top papers were then forwarded to a separate faculty awards committee. This special edition of IJURCA showcases the best student work presented at NUCH, including both literary scholarship and creative writing from Oregon State University, Washington State University, and Whitworth University undergraduates.
