Abstract
For decades, David Forsythe has been interested in humanitarian intermediaries in thecontext of international relations. Early in his career, he chose to focus on the little known (at that time) International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), which led to a long association with that private Swiss agency. He also came to study other aspects of humanitarianism, whether through a focus on the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees or on US foreign policy. This brief article reviews some salient points abouthis studies in this field.
