Abstract

Holding in a dark secret can eat you alive. Such is what happened to me after an abusive relationship I was in during community college. For two years afterward, I was bound in secrecy, and I lived in fear of being discovered when I began to speak out. I was afraid that he would find me and hurt me like he threatened. This piece I will be sharing explores a little of what happened and the effect it had on me. Even though this is a more sensitive piece, it exists to help others know that they aren't alone and that they can speak out if they need help, too.
