Tchaikovsky's “Piano Concerto No. 1, Mvt. 1”

Leah Espinoza

John Pickett

Abstract

Leah Espinoza will present information about a piano concerto that she recently learned and performed. The interactive exhibit will show the complete score of music for the first movement of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1, with details about the sections of music, and the type of playing techniques that the piece employs. Visitors will be able to listen to any section of their choosing through numbers in the laid-out music, and can ask questions about what a concerto is and how it was learned. The hope of the creative expression presentation is for visitors to learn more about and appreciate the incredible skill and effort that goes in to re-creating and performing a famous music composition in our modern day.
