Abstract
For my presentation I will talk about Full range leadership. To start things off, I will give a brief overview on how this theory came to fruition. After this I will then dive into the three main types of leadership style under the full range model. The first of which, would be the Laisse-faire method. This method is essentially the laziest o the three. A leader who show laisses-faire style leadership is one who is “hands off”, or just doesn’t care about his/her subordinates. I will discuss why this is a bad style of leadership and maybe some effective ways to change from this style. The second style I will discuss is the transactional styles. Now there are two types of transactional leadership the I will discuss. The first will be Management By Exception (MBE). This is when a leader is always looking for deviations in standards and customs and takes actions to correct them. Once again, MBE can take up two styles, passive and aggressive. The second method of Transactional leadership style is Contingent Reward (CR). CR is a “constructive transaction between leaders and followers.” This is essentially rewarding your followers with either material or mental praise when its due. The third main category under the FRLM is the transformational. This style is more based on creating that one-on-one relationship with your subordinates. There are four subcategories within the transformational, the first of which being Individual Consideration (IC). The second is Intellectual Stimulation (IS), followed by Inspirational Motivation (IM), and finally Idealized Influence (II).
