Abstract
This presentation will highlight the experience of six students of the twenty-five who were selected to attend the 37th Annual United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) in Chicago, Illinois from February 14-17, 2019. This conference featured interactive workshops and prominent speakers such as political leaders, broadcasters, educators and business CEO’s. Through the pecha kucha format, the students will share their perspective and personal impact as Latinx students. Among the outcomes of the conference, the students were able to gain knowledge on community service, leadership roles, networking, resilience, and the value of Latinx representation in the students’ future careers. From campaigning for student body president to conservation efforts, the students are immediately applying their skills obtained from the conference at Central Washington University.
