Abstract
My project is about live music in musical theatre, why we are slowly seeing less of it, and what we can do differently to bring them back on stage. Why this is important is because this takes away jobs from musicians who are orchestra players. This is also important because music has a big impact on a lot of people emotionally and there is a difference between hearing music that is prerecorded and music that is being performed live in front of an audience. I want to present my ideas on what changes we can make that can be beneficial for everyone. I based most of this around Central Washington University’s theatre department and its use of recordings. The fact that funding, time management, and a few other things are contributing factors as to why we no longer use live music. I have some proposals that I would like to bring to the table on what we could do differently that has been a success on Broadway and could potentially be a success here if planned out in a mannerly fashion.
