Abstract
Neocortex is the largest region of the cerebral cortex in the mammalian brain. It is composed of multiple functional areas that process discrete types of information including visual, somatosensory, and auditory input and motor control output. During embryonic development, the relative size of each area is determined by transcription factors such as EMx2. The goal of our work is to identify proteins that interact with Emx2 to influence its role in neocortical arealization, the process by which the specific areas of the neocortex are formed with discrete boundaries.
