Description

This article discusses the unexpected turnout for the Washington State Women's Conference on July 8-10th, 1977. The article talks about how many participants ended up sleeping in Ellensburg High School gymnasium in sleeping bags, as well as churches and trailers. Many of these unexpected attendees were attributed to the instructions given by Mormon leaders to many LDS followers to go and stand against the Equal Rights Amendment ratifications that were being discussed at the event.
