The article's first paragraph reads: "The Washington State Conference of Women was invalid, members of the Equal Rights Coalition charged at the end of the three-day session Sunday. Statement's by a black women's leader, Thelma Jackson of Olympia, and Jeannette Williams of Seattle, charged the federally mandated goal of the conference had not been met. They also claimed resolutions developed during the session did not represent women minorities."
