Abstract

The reading program, Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) was researched to report on its use by students in a secondary classroom setting. SSR was defined, guidelines were listed, goals and rationale were discussed, and suggestions for implementation were given to support information and ideas presented in a handbook for administrators, teachers, and parents of junior high and high school students who want to learn how to develop and maintain a SSR program. The focus of the project report is to show the importance of continued reading growth.
