Abstract

The need for proper teaching of science concepts at the seventh grade was investigated through current literature. From this literature, the basic requirements for effective concept instruction were identified and a four-step approach to concept teaching was adopted. Twenty concepts were identified as needing supplementary lessons. Each of the twenty concepts had three lessons written for it. The lessons were written to include the attributes of the concept, examples and nonexamples, and hand-on experience whenever possible.
