Abstract
Thematic units were developed for a third grade curriculum using a whole language approach. The six themes integrated reading, writing and language with science, social studies, fine arts, and health objectives. Each unit includes five sections: 1) Objectives, 2) Immersion, 3) Language Activities, 4) Integrated Activities, and 5) Evaluation. The thematic unit topics were 1) Bears, 2) Dinosaurs, 3) Fall, 4) Food, 5) Plants, and 6) Space.
