Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine if fifth grade students could be consistent and productive participants in the process of selecting books for a school library. Forty six students completed a Reading Interest Inventory and participated in a book selection activity. Chi-square test results did not support the hypothesis that there would be no significant difference between the results of these two selection activities. Student perceptions of their involvement in this process were also included.
