Abstract

The project provides a manual of English as a second language which contains the historical and theoretical background of ESL. It also contains methodology for teaching ESL and some suggested activities and lesson plans. The review of the literature explains some of the teaching approaches to ESL, discusses good ESL teacher characteristics and the total impact of learning English by students of other languages and cultures. The activities in this manual are practical and varied to allow for the diversity in learning styles of all students, and the diversity of teaching styles by teachers.
