Abstract
The use of literature used to supplement social studies was researched. Four fifth grade classes were divided into two groups. The experimental group used supplemental literature while the control group used only their social studies textbook. Tests demonstrated that students who used supplemental literature projected attitudes of increased knowledge. Differences between the two groups indicate a need for further research.
