Abstract
The purpose of the study was to examine the Ellensburg School District's criteria for the identification of potential dropouts. Self-concept, as measured by the Adjective Check List, was used as an indicator of school problems typical of low achievers and dropouts. Students from the Ellensburg junior and senior high schools were administered the ACL. The results indicated that four of ten hypotheses derived from past research were substantiated for self and teacher ratings. These were ego organization for self ratings, and ego organization, social desirability and internal discomfort for teacher ratings. The evidence tended to support the criteria for identification of potential dropouts in the Ellensburg Public Schools.
