Publication Ethics
A submission to Journal of the Symposium of University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE) implies that all authors and mentors have read and agreed to follow the journal’s policies, guidelines, and ethics. Failure to adhere to the submission policy is cause for rejection of the manuscript.
- The submission is original work by the submitting author(s) and does not infringe on any existing copyright.
- The submission has not been published in any other publication, in part or in whole, and is not currently under consideration by any other publication. The submitter guarantees that the copyright for the work is held by no other entity.
- The use of any figures, tables, or text passages that have been published elsewhere must include appropriate permission from the copyright holder(s). All other materials will be assumed to be original work from the author(s).
- The author will not submit the same material to another journal (electronic or print).
Ethical Considerations
All significant contributors to the submitted work should be indicated as co-authors.
All research involving the use of human subjects requires Human Subject Review Council approval and all projects using live, vertebrate animals requires IACUC approval before the start of the project. All principal investigators, faculty sponsors, and research personnel must complete the required Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) training(s) before receiving approval to conduct human subjects or live animal research.
- Projects involving the use of human subjects were reviewed and approved by CWU’s Human Subjects Review Council (HSRC).
- Projects involving the use of live, vertebrate animal subjects were reviewed and approved by CWU’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
- All ethics approvals (HSRC & IACUC) and funding sources must be acknowledged within the submitted work. Example statements:
- “This research was partially supported by the Office of University Student Research at Central Washington University.”
- “This study was approved by the Central Washington University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), protocol #0000000.”
