Abstract
Along with the rest of the country, the state of Washington seems to be concerned over the reading problem. Reports of college teachers doing in-service work, requests of school authorities and teachers for help and suggestions, general discussion among groups of teachers indicate both an awareness of the fact that there is room for improvement in our teaching of reading and a desire to do something about it.
